Q: What is the maximum ambient temperature that the A/C unit can work in?

A: Thank you so much for your interest in our AC units, Ken! The WMC-2500, which is the AC unit we use inside of our 10K BTU AC rack, can operate in ambient temperatures from 64 to 113 degrees F. That being said, though, at the higher ambient temperatures, it may take longer than desired to bring the temperatures down. If you have more specifics about this project (i.e. what the ambient temperature in the space will be, what temperature you'd like the space cooled to, etc.), we'd be happy to review and give you some additional feedback; just reach out to us at sales@rackmountsolutions.net and we'll be happy to help! We do like to emphasize that this unit is intended for use as a supplemental cooling solution (i.e., you have room cooling, but possibly just not enough). In situations with higher ambient temperatures and no primary cooling, we do tend to recommend a freestanding portable cooler rather than a rackmounted unit.

Q: Is the 10K BTU AC unit a certified CRAC designed unit that will run 24x7x360 over multi-able years of continuous high output run-time?
Is the AC unit serviceable i.e. parts availability & Coolant recharging?
The reviews on the 7K BTU unit are not good. non-serviceable parts availability, short life experienced measured in months. Coolant line corrosion leaks caused by close proximity to the condensation pan, fan blades premature cracks & breaking...
I need a unit that will run for the same life-cycle as most AC units 7-10 years with reasonable routine life-cycle maintenance.
What are the MTTR/MTBF and Life-cycle specs? i.e. what should I plan/budget for unit replacement? 2,5,7,10 years etc.

A: Thank you so much for your interest in our 10K BTU AC unit, Mark! This unit is indeed intended to run 24/7. The Tripplite AC is more of a supplemental unit, so it does not have the lifespan that this Americool WMC-2500 does. If this unit is cared for properly, it can have a lifespan of 7-10 years. It is a serviceable part, and does have replaceable components. We can certainly provide the MTBF information, as well as answer the other questions you have, we'll just need to request this info from the manufacturer for you. Q: what kind of exhausting does this have? also, how much usable space (how many U's) are available with the AC unit installed?

A: Thanks for your interest in our 10K BTU cooling cabinet, Yaniv! This cabinet does not have an exhaust ducting kit available, so the exhaust would escape from the bottom of the rear doors on the cabinet. The unit itself consumes 14U rack space, so you'll have 28U of usable space in this cabinet. Let us know how else we can help!
